Beautification Committee IPM 2010
Our mandate is to enhance the beauty of this magnificent County of Elgin, as we prepare to invite the world to the International Ploughing Match.
Just as one would spruce up the place for a visit from family and friends so we would like to challenge the people to beautify or spruce up a space in Elgin.
We have set up 2 challenges to accomplish this.
One challenge is directed to the individual, either rural or urban. Any farm or business could showcase a gateway, garden, building or find a way to add to curb appeal.
The other challenge is directed to the community. Any municipality, chamber, club or group can beautify a private or commercial space.
Both challenges require a "before" photo taken recently either in 2009 or 2010 and an entry fee of $20.00 by June 1, 2010. Our committee will take care of the "after" photos and the judging.
We are delighted to have the Elgin Business Resource Centre to partner with us on the Challenges. They have offered, on a first come first served basis, to provide funding for up to 50% of your expenses to a maximum of $500. Of course there are a few details to consider... but first you must accept the challenge.
Details are available on both entry forms
We are looking forward to a lot of fun in getting ready for this match.
Set up a challenge with your neighbour to clean up that corner that always needs attention. Try a water feature. Plant a few plants or bulbs at an entrance to your street or road. Maybe your club could help out a local horticultural society, or get some advice. Be original and be positive. Challenge a nearby municipality to have the most projects on the go.
Our fundraiser to help cover expenses is a multicoloured windsock. This helps to remind us that the match is near the airport in 2010. It is available now from the souvenir committee for $15.00
Let's show the world how we celebrate the past and embrace the future.
